Acclaimed traditional Persian singer Hossein Khajeh Amiri (aka Iraj) will sing with his pop singer son, Ehsan, at a joint concert in Iran next month.
The concert, which will be held at the Ministry of Interior auditorium from August 14-15, will mark the first time Iraj is to perform in Tehran after 16 years.
Last year, the 84-year-old singer resumed his live performances in the Iranian cities of Bandar Abbas, Kish Island and Qazvin.
The veteran singer surprised his fans with his sonorous voice both at concerts and in his recent albums.
The father-son duo will perform two events each night, one at 6:30 pm and the other at 10:30pm (local times).
Ehsan highlighted the importance of the event on social websites, saying “it is a peculiar feeling as I am to go on stage with my father for the first time in my life.”
Iraj began his musical career at the age of 6 by practicing under his father’s tutelage. His grandfather was also a special singer for Naser al-Din Shah (1831-1896), a king of the Qajar dynasty.
Iraj has sung close to 2,000 songs in his lifetime so far, while also being featured in 10 radio programs and some 100 films.
